The design of the book and its cover reflects the form of the antique folders where the original items are kept. To bring the same feeling as the old photos and drawings have, the book is printed on Munken Lynx, slightly creamy uncoated paper, soft to touch.

As the old keepers of the collection were writing the names on the labels on each folder by hand, we saw the handwriting changing throught decades. This made us ask the author of the book and the current curator, Petr Czaikowski, to do the same thing, as he continues the tradition and keeps the collection alive for future generations.

The collection is an unique document of new possibilities offered in connection with the broad technological development of the second half of the 19th century. The ancient aristocratic families directed it on the pursuit of progressive ideas. By emphasizing the return to the ancient cultural formal nobility of the historical styles, they also clearly demonstrated the distinctive concept of their own reserved dignity.
